     Charles Benton Hickman was born on 19 February 1874 at Milton, Cabell Co, WV.. He was the son of William Riley Hickman and Frances Anna Martin. He served in Co.      Capt. William Benton Sine was born on 20 May 1848 at Mannington, WV..¹⁰ He was the son of Alfred Flowers Sine and Mary Ann Chesney. He married Elizabeth Ann Hickman, daughter of Jesse A. Hickman and Charlotte Waychoff, on 5 March 1869 at Aleppo Twp, Greene Co, PA.. He was a Deputy U.S. Marshal from 1882 to 1886.^11,12 He was Captain of Co. D, 1st Infantry, WV National Guard from 1887 to 1903.¹³ He was Guardian of the 4 children of his deceased brother Franklin: Charles, Gerogie, Claude, & Mary A. Sine.¹⁴ He was the Mannington volunteer Fire Chief from 1894 to 1895.¹⁵ He was the Police Chief of Mannington in 1896.¹⁶ He was Guardian of Harry E. B. Sine.¹⁷ He was a carpenter in 1900 at Mannington, WV.. He and Elizabeth Ann Hickman adopted at least four children. They also raised children of Frank Sine. He moved to Ohio in 1904. He was a farmer in 1910 at Ross Co, OH.. He sold their home to go back to Mannington, "to get better help for better treatment for Lizzie" in March 1916.¹⁸ He bought 32 acres, 3.5 miles due west of Waverly, OH., on the Buchannon Pike circa September 1916 at Waverly, OH..¹⁹ He lived between 1916 and 1919 at Waverly, OH..
