He married Elizabeth Jane Pigott on 2 April 1868 at Harrison Co, WV..¹² He was a farmer at Cunningham Run, Eagle Twp, Harrison Co, WV.. He moved to Coburn's Creek circa 1902. He moved to Clarksburg in 1914. He died on 29 May 1938 at Clarksburg, Harrison Co, WV., at age 91.

     Johann Jacob Shiverdecker was born in January 1718 at Neckargerach, Baden-Wurtemberg, Germany. Johann Jacob Shiverdecker was also known as Jacob Schifferdecker. He was permitted to emigrated in 1754. He was of Neunkirchen (Kreis Mosbach.)³ He immigrated on the ship Hennreitta to the Port of Philadelphia, on 22 Oct 1754. He had travelled from Rotterdam via Cowes.⁴ He lived at Lancaster Co, PA..⁵ He married Maria Catherine Koehler on 5 June 1755 at Lancaster Co, PA..

In May 1765, Jacob Shiveldicker purchased three sets of lots in three separate deeds from Lewis and Mary Stephens. Each deed consisted of a 1/2 acre lot inside the town of Stephensburg and two joining five-acre "out lotts." (Lot 73 + out lots 45 & 73; Lot 73[sic] + out lots 41 & 78; Lot 12 + out lots 45 & 115). The town of "Stephensburg" later became "Newtown Stephensburg" in the 1800's and is now known as "Stephens City" south of Winchester, VA. (His son, Michael Shivendacker sold the three lots in 1792.)

On 13 May 1771, Jacob Shiferdaker received a patent for a 120 3/4 acre parcel of land from Lord Fairfax, said to have been registered in "Book P, Folio 41." He died before 1782 at Frederick Co, VA..

On 8 March 1786, Jacob's widow, Catherine sold the land, described as "on dry run a drain of Crooked Run" in Frederick Co., VA. adjacent to land of Lewis Stump. (Note by Howard: that stream maybe currently named "Stephens Run" near Stephens City, VA.) On 3 Sep 1793, a subsequent document in Superior Court reaffirms the sale by all of Jacob's children and heirs, Michael and Ann Shiffendacker, Henry and Margaret (Shiffendaker) Gard, and John and Elizabeth (Shiffendacker) Linvil. Jacob's sons Jacob Jr and Philip are said to be deceased. However, Philip Shivendaker of Union County, SC, appears in 1795 to reaffirm the sale.⁶

     Philip Shiverdecker was born before 1762. He was the son of Johann Jacob Shiverdecker and Maria Catherine Koehler. He lived in 1782 at Frederick Co, VA.. He lived in 1795 at Union Co, SC..

     Jacob Shiverdecker Jr. was born on 27 February 1756 at Lancaster Co, PA.. He was the son of Johann Jacob Shiverdecker and Maria Catherine Koehler. He was a Private in Capt. Berry's Company of the 8th Virginia in the Revolutionary War. He served from May 1776 to July 1777, when he was reported to have deserted.¹ He died "without leaving wife or heirs." He died before 1 January 1787.

     Margaret Shiverdecker was born on 13 October 1757 at Lancaster Co, PA.. She was the daughter of Johann Jacob Shiverdecker and Maria Catherine Koehler. She married Henry Guard on 24 February 1784 at Frederick Co, VA.. She died in 1821 at Stephensburg, Frederick Co, VA..
