(Comment: Thomas' birth date is recorded as 1823 in several sources, and as 1821 in others. Thomas was certainly the oldest having been born in Greene County, Pa before the family moved to Monroe County, Ohio. Thomas' father Daniel is named in a Greene County, Pa Court case as late as 1823.

Thomas died sometime between 1900 when he appeared in the Census and 13 Sep 1901 when his son William applied for Letters of Administration over his estate.

The application is recorded in Wirt County Fiduciary Record Book 2, page 82.

"Upon application of Wm Hickman and it appearing that Thos. Hickman Sr. departed this life intestate and more than three months having elapsed since the date of his death and no administration having been granted to any one over said estate, it is ordered that the said Wm Hickman be and is hereby appointed Administrator of the estate of the said Thomas Hickman deceased: whereupon the said Wm Hickman together with L.J. Lome (?) as his surety entered into and acknowledged a bond conditioned according to law in a (unreadable) of one hundred dollars which bond is approved as sufficient and the oath of office as required by law was administered to the said Wm Hickman and letters of administration in due form of law on granting him on said wards estate, and it is further ordered that B.M. Wiseman, Gale Wiseman, and Wm Ott be and they are hereby appointed appraisers of said estate.
