     James Elva Stephens was born on 23 September 1873. He married Alice Spicer, daughter of John Spicer and Emeline Hickman, on 13 December 1894. He was an auctioneer in 1930 at Waynesburg, PA.. He died on 9 November 1964 at age 91.
