     Wiat Rose was born on 17 July 1754 at CT. He was the son of Jeremiah Rose and Bathsheba Rose. He married Maude Thankful Tanner, daughter of William Tanner III and Deliverance Briggs. He was a Lieutenant in a New York military regiment in 1788 at Albany Co, NY..⁵ He purchased 207 acres from Stephen Van Rensselaer on 4 December 1789 at Stephentown, NY..^6,7 He was a Vice Lieutenant in Lt Col Jonathan Niles' Regiment at Rensselaer Co, NY..⁵ He died on 23 February 1795 at Stephentown, NY., at age 40. He was buried at Rose Cemetery, Stephentown, NY..

     Jeremiah Rose was born on 13 September 1724 at Scituate, MA.. He was the son of Gideon Rose and Lydia Turner. He married Bathsheba Rose, daughter of Thomas Rose III and Joanna Wyatt, on 29 January 1752 at Griswold, CT..³ He leased land at Rennselaer in 1771. His will was recorded on 9 Apr 1801. He died in 1801 at Stephentown, Rensselaer Co, NY..

     Bathsheba Rose was born on 1 January 1730/31 at Norwich, CT..³ She was the daughter of Thomas Rose III and Joanna Wyatt. She married Jeremiah Rose, son of Gideon Rose and Lydia Turner, on 29 January 1752 at Griswold, CT..⁴ She died between 1823 and 1830.

     Thomas Rose III was born on 27 February 1705 at Preston, CT..³ He was the son of Thomas Rose II and Mary Gates. He married Joanna Wyatt, daughter of Jonathan Wyatt and Martha Vose, on 28 March 1728 at CT. He married Sarah Harris on 28 June 1742 at Norwich, CT.. He was a farmer at Norwich, New London Co, CT.. He died on 12 April 1778 at Norwich, CT., at age 73. He was buried at Geer Cemetery, Griswold, CT..

     Joanna Wyatt was born circa 1705. She was the daughter of Jonathan Wyatt and Martha Vose. She married Thomas Rose III, son of Thomas Rose II and Mary Gates, on 28 March 1728 at CT. She died on 28 March 1741 at Norwich, CT..¹

“Joanna Wyatt, wife of Thomas Rose, was almost surely born ca 1705/6, daughter of Jonathan Wyatt (1677- ?) and his wife Martha Vose, who were in the Stonington, CT/ Westerly RI by 1705.

Joanna was born between that couple's departure from Milton, Mass. about 1702 and the recording of 5 younger children's births in Stonington, Conn. 1707, 1709, 1711, 1713, 1717.

Joanna could possibly even be the "Gemina" bapt 3 Aug 1706 found in the records of the First Church in Stonington of Jonathan and Martha (Vose) Wyatt.

Supporting evidence is as follows:
Thomas and Joanna Rose named children Bashua, Martha and Mary, all names in the previous generation of the Vose family. Jonathan Wyatt's mother's name was Joanna Spurr. Preston adjoins Stonington. Joanna Wyatt definitely seems not to belong to the Connecticut Wyatt family, descendants of John of Hartford."²

     Thomas Rose II was born in 1681 at CT. He was the son of Capt. Thomas Rose and Hannah Allyn. He married Mary Gates, daughter of Thomas Gates and Elizabeth Freeman, in 1704 at Preston, CT.. He died on 15 May 1733 at Preston, CT..

     Mary Gates was born on 10 March 1675/76 at Charlestown, MA.. She was the daughter of Thomas Gates and Elizabeth Freeman. She married Thomas Rose II, son of Capt. Thomas Rose and Hannah Allyn, in 1704 at Preston, CT.. She died on 7 June 1737 at Preston, CT., at age 61.

     Capt. Thomas Rose was born in 1653. He was the son of Joanna (---). He served in King Phillip's War in 1675/76. He married Hannah Allyn, daughter of Robert Allyn and Sara (---), on 16 September 1680 at Preston, CT.. He was one of the original proprietors of Preston, CT. He owned land along the border of Norwich. He was a representative in the General Assembly of Connecticut. He died in 1744 at Preston, CT.. He made his will 20 Nov 1723. It was proved 29 May 1744.²

     Hannah Allyn was born circa 1650 at New London, CT.. She was the daughter of Robert Allyn and Sara (---). She married Capt. Thomas Rose, son of Joanna (---), on 16 September 1680 at Preston, CT.. She died on 5 January 1745 at Stonington, CT..

     Joanna (---) was born before 1640 at England. She married (---) Rose. She married Robert Fleming before September 1669. She married (---) Olmstead between 1681 and 1687 at CT. She died after 1698.

     Robert Allyn was born in 1608 at England. He was the son of George Allyn. He lived in 1636 at Salem, MA.. He married Sara (---). He died in December 1683 at New London, CT..

     Thomas Gates was born in 1642 at Hingham, MA.. He was the son of Stephen Gates and Ann Neave. He was baptized on 3 May 1646 at Hingham, MA.. He married Elizabeth Freeman, daughter of John Freeman and Elizabeth Noyes, on 6 July 1670 at Sudbury, MA.. He died on 10 August 1726 at Norwich, CT..

     Elizabeth Freeman was born on 23 June 1648 at Sudbury, MA..¹ She was the daughter of John Freeman and Elizabeth Noyes. She married Thomas Gates, son of Stephen Gates and Ann Neave, on 6 July 1670 at Sudbury, MA.. She died circa 1723 at Preston, CT..

     Ann Neave was born in 1603 at England. She married Stephen Gates on 5 May 1628 at Hingham, Norfolk, England. She died on 5 February 1682/83 at Stow, MA..

     John Freeman was baptized on 24 January 1606/7 at Pullborough, Sussex, England. He was the son of Edmund Freeman and Alice Coles. He came to America in July 1635. He was a proprietor in 1639 at Sudbury, MA.. He married Elizabeth Noyes, daughter of Peter Noyes, circa 1643 at Sudbury, MA.. He died circa 1649 at Sudbury, MA..

     Elizabeth Noyes was baptized on 19 April 1625 at Weyhill, Hampshire, England. She was the daughter of Peter Noyes. She married John Freeman, son of Edmund Freeman and Alice Coles, circa 1643 at Sudbury, MA.. She married Josiah Haynes on 13 November 1649 at Sudbury, MA.. She died at Sudberry, MA..

     Asa Burch married Hannah Chase, daughter of Daniel Chase and Hannah Tallman, on 21 March 1769. He died on 5 May 1778 at Stephentown, NY..
(Comment: The source of Asa Burch Sr.'s marriage and death dates is a written family Bible record. In 1890, Thankful Oleva Burch, Asa Burch Jr.'s youngest daughter, transcribed the entire record and sent it to her niece Abigail Flagg, who was the family genealogist. I have a copy of that 1890 letter. Lucile Kimball of San Luis Obispo, CA. had the original letter, in 1999.
Asa Burch Sr. is most certainly a descendant of the immigrant Thomas Burch. However, the exact descent line has not been proven.

Asa Burch Sr. was the son of Benjamin (b. 1731) and Anna Udall who lived in Hartford, CT. [I have copies of that research, but there is no proof.] DNA analysis suggestes this is correct.

Two possibilites are listed:
1) Asa Burch Jr. was the son of Jonathan (b: 16 Sep 1740) and Eunice Burch. Given as source is the 18 Dec 1806 Stonington Deed, which listed children of Jonathan Burch. I have a copy this deed. The Asa referenced is another Asa Burch who lived in Herkimer Co, NY. Also, Bible records show that Asa Jr. was son of Asa Sr. Asa Sr married in 1769, and was too old to have been son of Jonathan born in 1740
2) Asa Burch Jr. wa[s the son of William Burch (b. 24 Jun 1742) and Thankful Towner. [Not possible because of Bible Records and wrong age, as stated above.]

     Hannah Chase was born on 13 September 1749 at Oblong, Dutchess Co, NY.. She was the daughter of Daniel Chase and Hannah Tallman. She married Asa Burch on 21 March 1769. She died on 20 August 1810 at Venice, Cayuga Co, NY., at age 60.

     Anna Udall was born on 17 July 1728 at Stonington, CT.. She was the daughter of Dr. Lionel Udall and Abigail Bill. She married Benjamin Burch, son of Jeremiah Burch and Margaret Billings, on 8 November 1750.
