Andreas Heckman (1742 Loyal Judith)
1745 26 Jul Anna Maria d/o Andreas and Christina. Sponsors: Simon and Magal Schenck
1746 7 Mar Augustus Evangelical Lutheran Church, Trappe, Upper Providence Township.
Andreas Heckman, born 1708, was the son of Conrad Heckman, a Catholic. On 6 Feb 1731 he married Maria Barbel Klee, daughter of the late Wilhelm Klee of Rohrbach, at Wolfersweiler Reformed Church. The surname is clearly HECKMAN.
Andreas arrived in Philadelphia on 3 Sep 1742, and appears on the Loyal Judith passenger list. As noted by Annette Burgert in Pennsylvania Pioneers from Wolfersweiler Parish, Saarland, Germany, Andreas arrived with Ludwig and Peter Klein, and Theobald Nabinger, also found in the Wolfersweiler KB. The Kleins were related to Elder Georg Klein who later baptized Peter Heckman of Tulpehocken Township, Berks County into the Church of the Brethren.
Hans Nickel Klee, son of Heinrich Klee of Rohrbach, arrived on the Loyal Judith in 1739, another Wolfersweiler church member and possibly related to Andreas wife Maria Barbel. He appears in Bern Reformed Church records, Berks County, when his children are baptized in 1752, and 1760. He died in 1763.
Joh. Nickel Klee arrived on the Glasgow in 1738; is found in Stoever's records from Conewago Reformed KB, Adams County, PA in 1741 and 1747. Nicholas Clay, Hanovertown, York County signed his will 4Oct 1772 ; it was filed 9 Nov 1776 .
In 1745 Andreas Heckman witnessed wills in Montgomery and Chester Counties.
On 1744 30 Oct, Andreas Heckman and wife "Anna Christiana" sponsor Anna Elisabeth, daughter of Peter and (N.G.) Marsteller. The child was born 22 Sep 1744, and baptized at Augustus Lutheran Church, Trappe.
Peter Marsteller (sig) and wife Anna Catharina arrived on the Harle 1 Sep 1736, ages 30 and 28 (born 1706 and 1708).
On 1745 26 Jul Anna Maria, daughter of Andreas and "Christina" Heckman, was baptized at Augustus Lutheran Church, Trappe. Sponsors: Simon and Magdal Schenck. The child was born 22 Sep 1744.
From this information one must assume Andreas Heckman's wife, Maria Barbel Klee, died either before he left Germany or soon after arrival in America.
The Schenck surname is found on the following passenger lists: Michael Molly 9/30/1727 (O)
Andreas Loyal Judith 9/25/1732 (X) ae 23 (b 1709)
Anna Two Sisters 9/ 9/1738 ae 40 (b 1698)
Christian Two Sisters 9/ 9/1738 ae 15 (b 1723)
Hans Jacob Charming Nancy 10/30/1738 (O) ae 32 (b 1706)
Hans Georg " " " (sig) ae 37 (b 1701 )
Jacob Francis & Elis. 9/21/1742 (H)
In 1754 Andreas "Hicman" appears on the Tax List for Cumru Township, Berks County, PA.
On 1754 30 Dec Andreas Heckman died Intestate.
On 1754 10 Aug "Andreas Hickman lately died intestate (as is affirmed). ..do hereby grant unto you the said Christiana Hickman...set my hand and seal this 10th day of August 1755."
"An inventory of the goods and chattels and land of Andreas H....man (microfilm markings), deceased on December 30th 1754...Whereas the widow of....Andrew Hickman not able to administer upon her husband's estate do...and ordain as...Son Charles Hickman to take upon himself administration...Charles Hickman doth choose 2 indifferent men to value the said estate."
Witnesses to the Inventory of Andreas Heckman's estate were: Conrad Schriver (KS) and Henry Slapbach (HB) "I Charles Hickman...as witness my hand this 3rd day of February 1755." There is no indication of a mark on the translated document, and one would assume Charles signed his name (as did his father, Andreas, upon taking the oath in Philadelphia in 1742).
Though twelve Shriver (Schreiber, Schriber etc.) immigrants arrived between 1733 and September 1754, none bears the given name Conrad, and no other information has been found on this individual.
