Anne Lake

F, b. 12 October 1663, d. 29 March 1737
     Anne Lake was a sister of Sir Thomas Lake, Baronet. She was a granddaughter of Deputy Governor Stephen Goodyear. She married Rev. Increase Mather. She was born on 12 October 1663. She was the daughter of Capt. Thomas Lake and Mary Goodyear. She married John Cotton, son of Rev. Seaborn Cotton and Dorothy Bradstreet, on 17 August 1686. She died on 29 March 1737 at Brookline, MA., at age 73.

     Rev. Seaborn Cotton was born on 12 August 1633 at at sea. He was the son of Rev. John Cotton and Sarah Hawkridge Story. He married Dorothy Bradstreet, daughter of Gov. Simon Bradstreet and Ann Dudley, on 14 June 1654. He married Prudence Wade on 9 July 1673. He died on 20 April 1686 at Hampton, NH., at age 52.

Luther Osgood
     Luther Edward Osgood was born on 17 June 1831 at Blue Hill, ME.. He was the son of Isaac Smith Osgood and Lois Hibbert Stover. He travelled from Blue Hill, Maine, to California, via the Isthmus of Panama. He returned to Maine to marry. in November 1852. He married Sarah Priscilla Hinckley, daughter of Floyd Hinckley and Mary "Polly" C. Ingalls, on 7 February 1858 at Blue Hill, ME.. He lived from 1858 to 1880 at Mowry Landing, Alameda Co, CA.. In 1880, he established a ranch in Irvington, Alameda Co, where they raised their children Annie and Blanche. Business directories show that they owned farms near both Centerville and Irvington.

The 1878 Atlas of Alameda County lists Osgood as a Centerville farmer with 191 acres and pictures his residence with a 100 acre farm. The map of Washington Corners shows he also owned property that fronted on Mission Road. Osgood was elected Washington Township assessor in 1875 and held this position for many years. He was a very popular community member. He purchased the Judge Crane residence on the San Jose Highway in Irvington and moved his family there in 1880. He built a store for Blacow and Weston that was destroyed by the fire of 1887. He died on 16 May 1901 at Irvington, Alameda Co, CA., at age 69.
