I John Ramsey Senor of Monongalia County...will..to my beloved wife Mary Ramsey...the one third of my land and the third of my movable property while she remains my widow and if she remarries or dies the land return to my beloved sons Samuel and Jesse Ramsey to whom I will and bequeath the two thirds of my land at my decease. To my son John I leave that tract of land now in his possession that was run off to him by __ly Ev___ supposed to be eighty nine acres to my beloved son William I will and bequeath that peace of land on the North with a strait line with the lain that stands between me and him to the back line joining Smith's line as agreed in the presence of Simon Everly provided he wishes his claim ...and to my beloved...Thomas one dollar to my beloved daughters Sarah, Rachael Polly and Nancy. ...I will that my daughter Nancy shall have the colt that she raised and I do hereby constitute make and appoint my beloved son John and Samuel Ramsey my lawful executors...as witness my hand April 13th 1818.. At a Court held for Monongalia County May Term 1818 this with in last will and testament of John Ramsey was produced in Court and proven by oaths of George Smyth and John Courtney...

Monongalia County Will, page 252,3: John Ramsey's will dated 20 Jan 1853, produced in Court February term, 1853:

I John Ramsey of the County of Monongalia and State of Virginia being sick and weak in body...will to my beloved wife Lydia one third of my home farm which my father gave to me...I will to my son Ira the tract of land he now lives on called the Shaw tract containing Eighty Six acres be the same more or less and also one tract of land called the Grimes tract all but what is on the East side of the Run also a part of a tract of land called the Evans tract beginning at a stone in the Martin line and running on north east course up the hill to a white oak near a slip gap and then a north course to a line of the old Ramsey land and then down the Ramsey line to a stone in a drean(?) where the line crosses then down the drean(?) to a white oak then down the Run to sugar tree at the last crossing then a west course to near the crossing of the big run above the saw mill then with the Davis and Martin lines to the beginning...I will to my son Zeri all the balance of my land except the lot on Scotts Run...I will to my granddaughter Emelean Six daughter of my daughter Elma three hundred dollars...I will my grandson Creed son of my son Bani J. Ramsey four hundred dollars when he comes of age and if the said grandson dies before he come of age the said four hundred dollars is to be equally divided between Ira and Zeri and Emelean Six...I will to my granddaughter Delia Ramsey one dun Cow six head of sheep.. and appoint my two sons Ira and Zeri my Executors...this 20 day of January Eighteen Hundred and fifty three...John Ramsey
